Georg K. Hilmarsson

Georg K. Hilmarsson (b. 1982) graduated from the Iceland Academy of the Arts in 2013 and proceeded his graduate studies at Mills College in California, working closely with renowned composers Fred Frith, Zeena Parkins, Roscoe Mitchell and John Bischoff. Georg graduated 2015 from Mills College with honors, were he was honored with the Paul Merrit Henry Prize for excellence in composition for stringed Instruments.
Georg’s pieces have been performed widely, Salisbury Arts Festival í England, Summer Dream Choir festival in Sweden, Center for Contemporary Music in San Francisco and the Berkley Art Museum. Georg’s pieces has span a variety of instrumentation and groups amongst those who have premiered his work are; Eclipse Quartet, Celli@Berkely, The Reykjavik Cathederal Choir and the South Iceland Chamber Choir.
Georg has been active in the Icelandic music scene as a bass player and songwriter, most notably with the band Sprengjuhollin.
Aaron Michael Smith

Aaron is a composer and violist based in Boston, MA.  He is often engaged in collaborations with filmmakers, visual artists, philosophers and other musicians.  Aaron’s works for performance have been largely focused on creating spaces of intentional and multisensory experience.  He has shown work, presented workshops, and received prizes at numerous international film festivals, including the Atlanta Film Festival, Chicago Underground Film Festival and the Oxford Film Festival, the Ann Arbor Film Festival, Montreal Underground Film Festival, the Marseille Underground Film Festival, the New Orleans Film Festival, and the Ann Arbor Film Festival.
Aaron completed a Master’s in music composition at Boston University with Joshua Fineberg and Rodney Lister.  Previously he graduated from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, receiving degrees in music composition and viola performance, including a minor in electronic music. He is currently on the composition faculty at the NEC Prep School.
